Age restrictions

• This is a licensed All Ages event.
• Where an event is listed as all ages, people aged 15 years or less must be accompanied by a responsible adult as defined by NSW liquor laws (click here), who must also hold a valid ticket. People aged 16-17 are recommended to be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Warnings

• Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are advised that the event may contain images and voices of people who are no longer with us.
• Sydney WorldPride shows may include strobe lighting, smoke and haze effects, loud music, flash photography, fire effects, pyrotechnics or other theatrical effects.
• Photography and filming are not permitted inside the Concert Hall.
• Please note that the Sydney Opera House is a smoke-free site.

Dress Code
First Nations FABULOUS – bust out the sequins and burnish the bling in celebration of this historic deadly night. Please note, security screening will be conducted prior to venue entry, and the team at the door will need to be able to see your face.

What to bring

• Valid Photo ID is required for people aged 18 and over to be served alcohol
• EFT or credit card – Contactless payment methods are strongly encouraged for food and bar transactions
• Though not a requirement for entry, face masks are strongly recommended for all patrons while inside our theatres and foyers, including during the performance – Please bring your own mask

You must bring valid Photo ID (Proof of age is a requirement for alcohol service at bars)
Valid forms of ID include:

• A Driver’s or Rider’s Licence or Learner’s Permit issued by an Australian State or Territory or any foreign country
• A NSW Digital Driver Licence
• Passport
• NSW photo card
• Proof of age card issued by a public authority of the Commonwealth or of another State or Territory for the purpose of attesting to a person’s identity and age
• Keypass (over 18) identity card issued by Australia Post

What not to bring

• Glass beverage containers
• Food – The event is licensed to sell food and drinks.
• Alcohol or illegal drugs / substances of any kind.
• Sound or video recorders or cameras. Photography and filming is not permitted inside the venue.
• Selfie Sticks/Go-Pro Sticks / Monopods or Tripods.
• Chairs, folding chairs, bean bags, inflatable chairs or lounges, tents, sun shelters, eskies, and hard-cased cooler bags.
• Inflatable balloons or toys.
• Political, offensive or discriminatory banners, posters, flags or signage made of soft or hard material.
• Clothing with images or text that is offensive or discriminatory in nature.
• Drones and or other remote-controlled devices.
• Megaphones, horns, trumpets, sirens, whistles or any type of noise-making devices.
• Fireworks, flares or sparklers.
• Anything that could be used as a weapon such as sharp items including knives and any item that can be used as a projectile.
• Suspicious items or items which may look like a weapon.
• Laser Pointers, permanent marker / felt type pens, scissors or large aerosol canisters.
• Flyers, stickers or any other promotional material not authorised by Sydney WorldPride.
• Any item that you intend (or such quantities of the item from which Sydney WorldPride can reasonably infer that you intend) to distribute, hawk, sell, offer, expose for sale or display for marketing or promotional purposes.
• Balaclavas or (non-religious) face coverings.
• Dogs or other pets (excluding official assistance/service animals, which are accepted)
• Any other item determined by Sydney WorldPride, the venue, management or artist to be dangerous or capable of causing a public nuisance that would distract, obstruct or interfere with the artist performance, or jeopardise public safety.

For the comfort, safety and enjoyment of all persons attending this event please be advised of the following conditions:

• You must have a valid ticket or other authorisation/accreditation to enter the event.
• This event site is fully licensed. Alcohol sales are subject to Responsible Service of Alcohol and Harm Minimisation Practices. We are prohibited by law from serving liquor to minors and to intoxicated persons.
• Entry is at your own risk. To the maximum extent permitted by the law, Sydney WorldPride, event organisers, the venue and artists accept no responsibility for loss, injury or damages caused to patrons or patron property whilst attending the event.
• You may be filmed or photographed at the event & footage/images may be used, replicated or published by Sydney WorldPride or the artists for promotional & other purposes.
• All ticketholders must present their bags and personal belongings for visual inspection or x-ray screening by Opera House security staff before entering the venue as a safety precaution and condition of entry. Ticketholders attending a performance may be electronically screened by Opera House security staff.
• Patrons found with a prohibited item (see list below) will have the option to take it back offsite or dispose of it.
• Any patron found carrying illegal substances, weapons or items considered dangerous or offensive will be referred to the Police.
• Disruptive or anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated. Intoxicated or disorderly patrons will be evicted from the venue without a refund.
• COVID 19: By entering our site, you declare that at the time of entry, you have no symptoms of COVID-19, have not tested positive to COVID-19 and are not required by health authorities to isolate.
• Sydney WorldPride reserves the right to vary advertised programs and to add, withdraw or substitute artists where necessary.
• Any person bearing or wearing gang colours, patches or insignias will not be permitted entry to the event.
• Shoes and shirts must be worn at the Opera House. Anyone not wearing shoes or a top of some sort may be asked to put one on. Please consider this when choosing your outfit for the Gala.
• The health, safety and wellbeing of everyone at Sydney WorldPride is a top priority – Sydney Opera House is a smoke free site.

Below you’ll find all the important information about the facilities offered at the event, including what to expect at the event to help make your experience safer and more enjoyable:

Arrival Time
The Opera House precinct will be extremely busy during your scheduled visit with high foot traffic expected in the area as well as ongoing essential maintenance works so we recommend arriving 60 minutes before the show. Please follow the advice of Opera House staff to help you get to your event on time. Foyers open at 5:45pm.

Venue Security & Bag Checks
In line with the Opera House security procedures, venue security will be scanning and checking bags under the Monumental Stairs, prior to entering the building. Bags will be scanned by an x-ray machine, and staff will wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling your belongings, such as gloves. Please travel lightly and do not bring items that require cloaking e.g. handbags bigger than A4-size, backpacks and umbrellas, which are not permitted inside the venue.

Seeing the Show

• All guests entering the Opera House will need to pass through a security check point.
• Metal detectors and Xray machines will be in use.
• Staff will wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) where needed.
• Items larger than an A4 piece of paper may be required to be cloaked. Free cloakroom facilities are available
• Late comers will be permitted at a suitable point in the performance. All attempts will be made to seat you in your allocated seat where possible.

Bennelong Sails
The Bennelong sails will light up with the art of Warramungu Wombaya artist, graphic designer and advocate, Jessica Johnson, owner of design agency, Nungala Creative, which created Sydney WorldPride’s iconic branding. The lighting of the sails in this deadly artwork will take place from 8:30pm for one night only – be sure to check it out following the concert!

Official Blak & Deadly Gala Afterparty – 10:00pm until late
Courtesy of Kings Cross Hotel, Club Budj is the official Blak & Deadly Gala Afterparty, presented by BLAQ Co. The party will host an array of Queer POC creatives celebrating and throwing a party for Blak Mob family, and attendance is free for Blak and Deadly ticketholders – show your ticket at the door.

Food & Drinks
Foyers will be open 75 minutes pre-show for Concert Hall and Joan Sutherland Theatre performances. Refreshments (alcoholic and non-alcoholic options) will be available for purchase from our theatre bars. Please bring a credit or debit card for any on site purchases to enable contactless payment. You’re welcome to bring your own water bottle but no other food and drinks are permitted inside our venues unless otherwise specified. Opera Bar, House Canteen and Portside are also available for you to enjoy.

Toilets
All Gender toilets (including accessible toilets) can be accessed in the Concert Hall Northern Foyer. Toilets (including accessible toilets) are also available in the public Box Office Foyer area within the venue.

Medical
If you fall ill while onsite at the Opera House, please alert the nearest staff member and exit the venue. Depending on the nature of your illness, an Opera House nurse may attend to assist you.

Cloaking
We strongly encourage patrons to leave bags at home and to avoid bringing any large items to the Opera House (anything larger than an A4 sheet of paper) to avoid delays. Larger items – including handbags bigger than A4-size, backpacks, umbrellas, suitcases and prams – are not permitted inside the venues and must be cloaked. Cloaking is at the discretion of Opera House venue security staff and all items will be visually inspected. Items presented to the cloaking desk will only be accepted from patrons with a valid performance ticket. At no time should your bag be left unattended.

Sydney WorldPride is proud to support the Sunflower Hidden Disabilities Program which is a globally recognised symbol for hidden or non-obvious disabilities. The Sunflower Lanyard enables people with hidden disabilities and conditions the choice to let the people around them know they may need extra support, empathy, understanding or patience. This may mean some wearers cannot stand for a long time in the queue to use the bathroom, may need the use of an accessible bathroom (even if they aren’t a wheelchair or mobility aid user), patience when their order is being taken, may need fast-tracked support, more time to move around (i.e. due to pain or mobility challenges) or can feel overwhelmed, sensory overload or stressed out in large crowds and loud environments.

If you already own a Sunflower lanyard please bring it along and it will be accepted at all SWP events. If you don’t already have one, Sunflower Lanyards will be available onsite at the Opera House Stage Door located under the Monumental Staircase and past the entrance to the foyers, from 4:30pm on 2 مارس 2023. Companion Cards
Patrons holding a Companion Card can call the priority line 61 2 9250 7752. Passenger drop-off system
Visitors and patrons with limited mobility arriving by taxi or private vehicle can be dropped at the designated drop-off area near the Macquarie Street Gatehouse. Opera House staff are on hand to arrange transfers to the building via a wheelchair-accessible shuttle service if required .

Please note: The dimension of the wheelchair accessible shuttle is 84cm width x 95cm length x 142cm height. There is a 110kg weight limit.

If the Forecourt has any activity that restricts vehicle access such as construction projects, there is an alternate underground drop off point where patrons are escorted by staff using lifts to the public foyers.

Complimentary Shuttle Bus
A free wheelchair accessible Courtesy Bus operates between Circular Quay and the street level entrance of the Sydney Opera House Western foyer (lift access inside). Seating is limited and available on a first come, first served basis. Pick up from the pedestrian concourse, opposite Wharf 2 (underneath the Cahill expressway).

• Bus starts 75 minutes before performances and runs continuously for one hour
• Bus starts 10 minutes after the performance finishes and runs continuously for 45 minutes
