Aras was born in 1996 at İzmir, Türkiye. After completing their studies before university at İzmir, they started their bachelor’s degree in Social Work (BA) at Hacettepe University. Currently, they are completing their master’s studies in the Human Rights and Multi-level Governance (MA) program at the University of Padua, Italy. For their master’s thesis, they are working on the holistic protection and well-being needs of human rights defenders with a particular focus on LGBTI+ HRDs. They have been working in the field of human rights since 2015. 

Aras is currently working as Advocacy and Well-being Program Coordinator on May 17 Association since August 2021. Within the scope of the program, which is designed to develop the well-being of LGBTI+ activists and their NGOs, it has been aimed to develop the well-being state by individual and institutional support, to highlight the importance of the field of well-being in the NGOs where the activists work, and to empower LGBTI+ Human Rights Defenders against the discrimination and violence that they are systematically exposed to. They also work as a consultant and well-being expert for human rights NGOs on local and international levels.
