The Calyx at Royal Botanic Gardens
Royal Botanic Gardens
The Calyx is a hub of activity, home to one of the largest green walls in the southern hemisphere, cafe, shopping and an exciting range of events and workshops.
Located within the heart of the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney, The Calyx (pronounced kal-iks) is defined as ‘the sepals of a flower, typically forming a whorl that encloses the petals and forms a protective layer around a flower bud’.
From 17 – 26 February, the Calyx will host a paid ticketed exhibition, Fleurs de Villes: PRIDE, presented as part of Sydney WorldPride Pride Amplified. The exhibit features the rainbow wall and 15 fresh floral mannequins paying homage toinspirational members and allies of the LGBTQIA+ community.
From mid-March, the Love your Nature exhibition returns to the Calyx, celebrating the diverse world of plant love. Throughout the year-long exhibition, the green wall will grow and bloom, with visitors able to watch the rainbow change during the season. Entry is by donation and the exhibition runs until Winter 2024. Check the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney website for opening times.
