Timothy Jones is a historian and social researcher at La Trobe University, who has expertise in religion, gender and sexuality in the modern era.

He leads a research team investigating LGBTQA+ conversion practices in Australia, and also researches the history of religious influence on Australian sexual politics, histories of child sexual abuse in religious institutions, histories of queer youth, and histories of religion and social equality. He has acted as an expert consultant to the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse, the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse in England and Wales, and the United Nations Human Rights Council investigation into LGBTQA+ conversion practices.
