Pride On Ice: Hockey Tournament
Thu Feb 23 - Fri Feb 24
Thu Feb 23 - Fri Feb 24
The Harbour Lights Hockey club is an LGBTQIA+ hockey club, based in Sydney.
Harbour Lights is the first LGBTQIA+ inclusive ice hockey club in NSW and is a member of the Australian LGBT Ice Hockey national body, which was founded in Melbourne in 2019.
Harbour Lights was launched in January 2021 and our first games were held on Mardi Gras weekend.
Our club aims to provide a safe space for queer hockey players to participate in the team sport, while feeling safe, welcome, and empowered to become an ongoing part of the hockey community.
Our mission is to celebrate the queer identities of our players, our supporters, and friends, while raising queer visibility in the sport of ice hockey. We play together as visible, out, and proud LGBTQIA+ hockey teams.
We believe our visibility improves the culture of ice hockey and helps to make it an inclusive sport where queer players and supporters can celebrate being their true selves.
The Harbour Lights Ice Hockey club, along with LGBT Ice Hockey Australia present, Pride On Ice: Hockey Tournament, from February 23-24. The two-day tournament will feature non-contact ice hockey games in both development and experienced divisions.
All players of the LGBTQIA+ community are welcome to participate.
The championship game for each division will be played on the final day of the tournament and will determine the winning teams of Pride on Ice 2023.
We hope this event will bring together LGBTQIA+ players to celebrate the queer and diverse players and supporters of Ice Hockey across the globe.
