SOH Queer Lit Double Bill:
Mixed Metaphors | On East Asian Asian Pride
Sydney Opera House presents an evening of queer literary excellence with a double feature of panels packed with leading writers and thinkers.
First from 6pm, Mixed Metaphors sees a motley crew of poets, musicians and authors discussing the use of poetry & metaphor to express the ineffable nature of queer life. Expect jokes, absurdity, eroticism, yearning and vampires with:
- Patrick Lenton (Sexy Tales of Palaeontology, Uncle Hercules and other lies)
- Omar Sakr (Son of Sin, The Lost Arabs)
- Marcus Whale (wheeze, The Hunger)
- Ellen van Neerven (Flock: First Nations Stories Then and Now; Throat)
Later from 7:20pm is On Queer East Asian Pride, in which a collection of Australia and South East Asia’s leading queer writers discuss the joys and nuances of queer East Asian identities both in Asia and the diaspora.

THE UTZON ROOM. Performances are being sold to 100% capacity in line with the NSW Public Health Order including all shows in the Utzon Room. Please note that you will be seated directly alongside other ticketholders. Our foyers will be open 90 minutes pre-show for Concert Hall and Joan Sutherland Theatre performances, and two hours pre-show for Western Foyer venue performances. Refreshments will be available for purchase from our theatre bars during intermission. Please remember to maintain physical distancing whilst consuming drinks in our foyers. All Sydney Opera House foyers are pram accessible, with lifts to the main and western foyers. The public lift to all foyers is accessible from the corridor near the escalators on the Lower Concourse and also in the Western Foyer via the corridor on the Ground Level (at the top of the escalators). Pram parking will be available outside the theatres in the Western Foyer consistent with COVID-safe rules.
