Rainbow Racquets Squash Australia Tournament
Wed Feb 22 - Thu Feb 23
Wed Feb 22 - Thu Feb 23
Join Rainbow Racquets Squash Sydney for its Pride Open Tournament. Co-hosted with Squash Australia, expect plenty of local, inter-state and international competition to determine who will be the Pride Champion in each of the four play grades on offer (A, B, C and D). We expect lots of racket from you at this racquet event! We are expecting between 60-80 competitors.
The tournament is open to everyone 18+ years of age (LGBTQI+ and Allies), with men and women integrated in one draw, and caters for every skill level (with every player getting 5+ games over 2 days). Our home is Hiscoes in Surry Hills – which is close to all the action happening during Sydney WorldPride. Hiscoes has 4 squash courts, with all matches allocated a time and everyone notified prior to playing. We are proud to announce that Jason McLauchlan, of Stellar Sports fame, and former Junior Squash Champion, will be our Tournament Director.
We are also delighted to work with Squash Australia, who are a fantastic partner, committed to growing LGBTQI+ squash around Australia.Formerly known as GSquash, which started in the 1980s, and which organised the last big international tournament at the Gay Games 2002, the newly-named Rainbow Racquets Squash Sydney is proud to continue its tradition of inclusive squash play!
Expect plenty of competition from around the world and inter-state to determine who will be the Pride Champion in each grade. We look forward to welcoming you all!
On behalf of our team, we love this fantastic opportunity to come to Sydney!
