As part of Sydney WorldPride, SWARM is a colloquium on memory, territoriality, and freedom dreaming. It is a film and performance festival that invites Trans/queer artists from the Black diaspora to meditate on futurity in a world undergirded by racial capitalism.

With a lead event hosted at Skyline Drive in Blacktown, SWARM will present work by lead international artists Fatima Jamal and Saul Williams, alongside a range of local and international performance artists to be announced soon. These independent films and performances form an important cultural moment, as SWARM presents dynamic works emanating from the Black radical tradition. The essence of this gathering of Black trans/queer artists is to conjure “the kind of freedom that can frighten governments, sustain others, and rid whole nations of confusion”.

Adjacent to the main film-screening event, SWARM will also host a series of workshops, artist talks, performances and video screenings.
