An exciting workshop for queer youth hosted by Inner West Council and brought to you by the Kiki House of Silky featuring international icons and legends from the House of West.
Go on a deep dive into vogue and ballroom origins and find your essence within learning the foundations and elements of this art. Express yourself on the ballroom floor with your new moves and effects created with top Australian queer designers.
Breakdown of Workshops
3.30pm: Introduction to Vogue and Ballroom
Hosted by Xander Silky and Rocky Silky (30 min duration)
4pm: Vogue Femme Workshop
Hosted by Legendary Buffy and Akashi (1 hr duration)
5pm: Runway Workshop
Hosted by Legendary Asia and Jack Silky (1 hr duration)
6pm: Effects Workshop
Hosted by Blu Silky and designers Nicol and Ford (1 hr duration)
7.30pm: Mini Ball – Virgin Vogue, Best Dressed, Runway
Hosted by Legendary Asia West, Judged by Legnedary Buffy and Akashi
Note: This is strictly a youth event for ages 12 to 18
The venue is accessible. A hearing loop is available. Your access needs are important to the organisers so please let them know what you need.
Full of character and rich history, this art deco building was the backdrop for the flamboyant dancing scenes from Baz Luhrmann’s 1992 film Strictly Ballroom. This is an accessible venue with bathroom facilities. A meal will be provided. Just bring yourself and your water bottle to get you through. , Petersham Town Hall is close to Petersham train station with on street parking and a Council carpark nearby.
