How to get Sydney WorldPride pre-sale tickets

LinkedIn

Anybody that has been to Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras will tell you – ‘get your tickets early!’

Sydney WorldPride is Mega Mardi Gras, with many more events to choose from, most of which will go on sale on 9AM AEST (Sydney-time) Friday 15 July 2022.

There are three ways you can skip the queue and secure your tickets early during a pre-sale, which we’ve outlined below.

For events which have multiple ticket releases (particularly parties), buying early also means you’re getting the cheapest tickets. Win!

All pre-sale purchases are limited to six (6) tickets, per event, per customer (Mardi Gras Member discounted tickets have further quantity restrictions detailed below). So start coordinating diaries with friends and family now, especially for events where you want to sit together, like for Live and Proud: Sydney WorldPride Opening Concert.

Pre-sales end once the pre-sale allocation is exhausted or at 9AM AEST 15 July 2022 when the general public on-sale starts (whichever comes first).

OPTION 1 – SIGN UP TO THE SYDNEY WORLDPRIDE PRE-SALE

Yep! That’s all it takes. Sign up and you’ll get pre-sale access to all of the events below from 9AM Monday 11 July AEST (Sydney-time):

Your pre-sale access information will be emailed to you at 9AM Monday 11 July AEST, so make sure you have the email address [email protected] whitelisted so it doesn’t end up in your spam! You’ll need to use the special links in that email to access the pre-sale.

OPTION 2 – BE A MARDI GRAS MEMBER

Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras is a not-for-profit organisation, and Mardi Gras Members are the heart of the organisation. If you’re an existing paid Mardi Gras Member (or applied before 1 July 2022), you’ll get pre-sale access to all same events as the Sydney WorldPride pre-sale, also from 9AM Monday 11 July AEST (Sydney-time).

Mardi Gras Members also enjoy discounts to many Mardi Gras events (they’re the ones that have ‘Mardi Gras’ in the event name). Note that discounted tickets are limited to two (2) tickets, per eligible event, per Mardi Gras Member.

Your pre-sale access will be emailed to you at 9AM Monday 11 July AEST, so make sure you have the email address [email protected] whitelisted! You’ll need to use the special links in that email to access the pre-sale, and for Mardi Gras events where you’re entitled to a discount, you’ll also need to use your unique member promo code detailed in that same email to unlock the discount.

OPTION 3 – BE AN AMERICAN EXPRESS CARD HOLDER

Like Mardi Gras, Sydney WorldPride is a not-for-profit organisation, and you may be surprised to know that the ticketing income from our events does not cover the cost to stage the festival. Instead, Sydney WorldPride is made possible thanks to the support of our Government Partners including the NSW Government and City of Sydney, and thanks to the generosity of American Express, our Principal Partner.

If you’re an American Express Card Member, from 9AM Monday 11 July AEST (Sydney time) you’ll be able to access pre-sale tickets to the below events:

As long as you are an American Express Card Member, you’ll be able to access the pre-sale directly from the American Express Experiences website – so bookmark it now!

HOW DO I KNOW THAT I’M BUYING LEGIT TICKETS?

If you’re accessing tickets during the pre-sale, your pre-sale email will have links to authorised retailers.

Most of our event tickets are being sold by Moshtix, with a small number of events with Ticketmaster, Ticketek and the Sydney Opera House.

Do not buy tickets from websites like Viagogo, Facebook Marketplace, Gumtree etc.

ANTI-SCALPING

When you purchase tickets they are secured, however in Australia it’s a common anti-scalping measure that the actual ticket barcode will not be released until a few days before the event.

But don’t be concerned – if you’ve bought your ticket, you’ve definitely secured that ticket.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I MISS THE PRE-SALE?

Don’t panic. We don’t put 100% of tickets on sale during the pre-sale, however from 9AM 15 July AEST (Sydney time) tickets will be able to general public. From that point on, events may sell out – so get in early!

For all party events, prices will also go up for subsequent ticket releases. That’s another reason to buy during the pre-sale.

WHAT EVENTS ARE FREE?

Mardi Gras Fair Day and Mardi Gras Parade are two of the most beloved events of the annual festival and remain free for Sydney WorldPride. (Although if you’re watching the Parade from the street, get there early to secure your spot!).

The special Pride March across the Sydney Harbour Bridge will also be free, with entry via ballot. Subscribe to our newsletter to be alerted when the ballots opening.

Most WorldPride Sports events will be free, and the new Pride Villages will also be free. Areas of the First Nations Gathering Space will be free.

The Pride Amplified open-access event program is also expected to include many free community events.

ACCESS

If you’re an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, we encourage you to apply for MobTix which provides low-cost tickets to five Official events.

If you are an Australian concession holder, you may also be eligible for our Affordability program to access low-cost tickets to three Official events.

Note that both programs have a fixed allocation of tickets, so apply ASAP and you can purchase your discounted tickets from 9AM AEST 15 July 2022.
