WorldPride, licenced by InterPride, is an international event that promotes LGBTIQ+ issues and rights through festivals, parades, celebration and other activities in various host cities around the world.
Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras (SGLMG) won the right to host the 2023 event with 61% support from InterPride members. It’s the first time ever the event will be held in the Asia Pacific Region.
Sydney WorldPride (SWP) has been incorporated by SGLMG to design and deliver Sydney WorldPride 2023. SWP is a Not-for-Profit (NFP) entity registered with Australian Securities and Investment Commission (ASIC) and Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC).
Sydney WorldPride 2023 is about much more than Sydney and Australia. It’s about Asia-Pacific, one of the world’s most diverse regions that is home to 60% of the world’s population yet is too often overlooked and under-represented. The vast majority of LGBTIQ+ communities within this region are denied fundamental human rights. Sydney WorldPride 2023 will be the global event that unites LGBTIQ+ communities and Prides from across the world and brings them to the Asia Pacific.
