Manly Mural
Manly Corso
Northern Beaches Council
Meg Minkley is an artist unafraid of all the colours and painting big.
Meg is a queer female artist and will paint a standalone mural on a constructed self-made wall which will be position on Manly Corso. The designs celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community and our society as ONE great big colour jungle, a flock of birds that fly together and stay together in unity and equality.
Meg will feature local native flora/fauna and will also invite viewers to play amongst this scene of joy, playing ‘Spot the Bird’, or ‘Eye Spy’ that Icon, or ‘Name that Song!’ With a few hints of some of our favourite lyrical Gay Anthems.
In addition, a coloured mish mash of shapes that are a layering of factual maps of the iconic gay establishments in Sydney including The Stonewall Hotel, the Imperial Hotel, Palms On Oxford, The Colombian Hotel, The Beresford, Universal and The Bearded Tit will also be featured.
A variety of different paints will be used including glow paint so the mural will glow in the dark and allow it to become interactive at night. The final artwork will be an interactive piece to make the perfect backdrop for an Instagram selfie.
