Mon Schafter (they/them)

Mon Schafter is a Walkley Award winning journalist and presenter who has co-hosted the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras parade on the ABC, and has told countless stories for ABC TV’s 7.30 and Hungry Beast.

Mon also hosts the ABC podcast Innies + Outies, featuring uniquely Australian stories about coming out or staying in, and leads the content for ABCQueer – a social media project aimed at young LGBTQIA+ Australians.

Mon is the co-chair of LGBTQIA+ youth support service Twenty10, and in 2020 was named as one Australia’s Outstanding 50 LGBTQI+ Leaders.

Acknowledgement of country

Sydney WorldPride will take place on the lands of the Gadigal, Cammeraygal, Bidjigal, Darug, Dharawal people who are the Traditional Custodians of the Sydney Basin.
