• Scholars will be given free access to the three-day Human Rights Conference, taking place from Março 1 to 3, 2023

• Three Scholarships Programs for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, International and Australian Scholars

LGBTQIA+ activists in Australia and across the globe are being given the chance to attend the Sydney WorldPride Human Rights Conference for free, thanks to a dedicated Scholarship Program.

The seven-day Scholarship Program will run from Segunda-feira 27 Fevereiro 2023 to Segunda-feira 6 Março 2023 and is designed to cover costs for activists and changemakers from all around the world.

The Program includes free access to the three-day Sydney WorldPride Human Rights Conference, the opportunity to join the historic Pride Março across the Sydney Harbour Bridge, and tickets to Rainbow Republic and selected other events.

For international, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholars, the Program will also pay for accommodation and return travel to Sydney.

There are three ways in which activists can apply:

• Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholarship Program – this program is open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander LGBTQIA+SB scholars only. It provides free access to the three-day conference and selected other events, domestic travel to Sydney, accommodation and a daily expense allowance.
• International Scholarship Program – this program is open to LGBTQIA+ scholars from outside Australia, with priority given to those from Asia and the Indo-Pacific region. It provides free access to the three-day conference and selected other events, return airfare to Sydney, accommodation and a daily expense allowance.
• Ticket Scholarship Program – this program is open to LGBTQIA+ scholars residing in Australia and provides three-day access to the conference and selected other events.

The Human Rights Conference is the cornerstone of Sydney WorldPride 2023 and will be held at Sydney’s International Conference Centre (ICC) from Março 1 to 3, 2023. The ground-breaking conference is the first of its kind in the Asia Pacific region and will bring together 1,500 community leaders, activists, politicians and human rights experts from across the globe to address the key human rights issues affecting LGBTQIA+ people around the world.

Sydney WorldPride’s Chief Executive, Kate Wickett, said: “The Human Rights Conference is one of the most important events in the Sydney WorldPride calendar. The first of its kind in the Asia Pacific, it will help make real change for the LGBTQIA+ community across the region and the world.

“Australian LGBTIQ+ human rights organisation Equality Australia is leading the development of the conference program, working with a coalition of community organisations and an International Advisory Board made up of LGBTIQ+ civil society leaders from across the globe.

“The Scholarship Program will allow access to this important conference for people who couldn’t otherwise attend. In doing so, it will give these scholars the opportunity to share their experiences, participate in sessions and contribute to valuable discussion.
