Adam Bourne is Professor of Public Health and Deputy Director of the Australian Research Centre in Sex, Health and Society (ARCSHS) at La Trobe University in Melbourne, as well as Senior Visiting Fellow at the Kirby Institute, UNSW Sydney. Professor Bourne leads a large program of research that examines the health and well-being of LGBTIQ populations, especially in the areas of alcohol and other drug use, mental health and intimate partners violence. He also maintains active involvement in HIV-related research, especially in low and middle-income contexts. He works in close partnership with numerous community organisations, NGOs and national governments to better understand and respond to the needs of LGBTIQ communities and has been fortunate to work in numerous countries across Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia and Europe.
